Tourists devour 2 tons of free tofu in under 2 hours


Communal eating can be a really fun affair, especially when it involves 5,000 people gathering at a Taoist site in Henan, China, to feast on a giant tofu dish.

Zhongtianmen Square in Laojunshan mountain is a pilgrimage site for Taoists in China, where people gather annually to share a huge dish of tofu. The Taoists believe that tofu is a blessing from the heavens and will bring good luck upon consumption.

People perform Tai Chi around the huge round tofu.


On Saturday, a circular tofu dish bearing the Tajitu pattern — a Tai Chi symbol representing yin and yang — was displayed at the public square. Read more…
